To make the best possible impression, whether you are a business writing to a customer or the opposite, make use of one of our many business thank you letter examples.

Tips for Using Our Business Thank You Letter Examples

The business thank you letter examples you’ll find on our pages differ considerably from those written in a personal context. Obviously you won’t be as well acquainted with a business associate or customer as you would your grandmother, and as such a more formal tone and format is required. Our business thank you letter examples are all written in the traditional block form of business letter writing. This serves three major purposes; it is an internationally accepted business letter writing format, they are especially easy to edit, and they will make the best professional impression possible.

The block style gets its name from the fact that the letter is divided in to chunks or “blocks” of text. It is all justified to the left of the page with a space between each block or section. When composing the body of the letter, it is best to use no more than 3 or 4 sentences per paragraph or “block.” The opening sections contain the name, address and contact information of the sender, the date, and the name and address of the recipient, all separated by a space. It will look like this:

Mr. Charles Collins
Manager
Bill’s Bar and Grill
42 Stormy Boulevard,
Bakersfield, CA
00745

April 11, 2005

Ms. Erica Fountain
Fashions by Fountain
19 Industry Ave.
Colleton, CA
00714

Begin your salutation by addressing the recipient formally, unless you have a very close working relationship developed over a number of years. If you’re already on a first name basis, it would be silly to address them formally; otherwise a formal salutation is immediately followed by the reason for the letter. Business people are always busy, so they appreciate directness. Here’s how that would look:

Dear Ms. Fountain,

I am writing to thank you for the stellar service and quality work provided by you and your staff throughout our recent re-modeling. From selecting the perfect fabric, materials, colors, and furnishings to overseeing its layout and installation, the organizational skills of yourself and the enthusiasm and tirelessness of your team made all the difference to us being able to re-open on schedule.

Next, if there was anything particularly outstanding about the event, interview, business deal, or something specific about a promotion, meeting, or convention you want to express, you can do so in the next paragraph.

At one point I didn’t think we were going to meet our deadline, but you and your team offering to work through the last three weekends ensured that we would, and we are extremely grateful for you doing so. To show our appreciation, we’d like to invite you and your staff for a meal on the house at your convenience.

Finally you can mention when you hope to do business, or meet again, and close by reiterating your thanks. In full this one of our business thank you letter examples looks like this:

In October of this year we will be undertaking a similar remodeling job on our restaurant in Anaheim, and I would like to invite you to provide your expertise on that project also. I have also been asked by several visitors to our establishment (many of them executives) who the interior designer was, and have provided them with your details. I hope this contributes to the well-deserved success of your business, and look forward to meeting with you regarding the Anaheim job. Many thanks again.

Sincerely,

Mr. Charles Collins
