We simply state the facts in our example letter of complaint about student behavior like this:

I am writing to bring your attention to the behavior of a group of about fifteen Delaware High School students who congregate in front of my house every morning to catch the school bus.

These students generate a great amount of noise at 7:00 every morning. Our block is populated by many senior citizens who are both disturbed and frightened by the sometimes rowdy behavior. In addition the students leave a great deal of litter behind which includes; cigarette butts, candy wrappers, and even discarded food.

Once you have detailed the nature of your complaint, suggest a solution or remedial action. Sign the letter respectfully, and thank the reader for their cooperation in resolving the matter. Our completed example letter of complaint about student behavior looks like this:

As a solution, I would like to point out that 200 yards down the road there is a public park with no residences within earshot. The area also has trash cans, benches on which the students could sit, and even more space for them to gather. I suggest you bring this to the attention of the School District, as it would make an ideal location for the bus stop.

I thank you for your time and cooperation in resolving this matter. If you would like to speak with me further about the matter, please feel free to contact me on 416-555-7799, or by email at jdavis@email.net.

Sincerely,

John Davis
